Thursday, November 30th, 2017 – The Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) is reminding home improvement contractors that they must renew their registration today in order to be compliant. All home improvement contractor registrations expire on November 30th of each year. If a contractor is not registered, they are not permitted to perform home improvement work in the state.

All licenses, permits, and registrations at DCP can be renewed easily online at www.elicense.ct.gov. Fifty Eight percent of home improvement contractors have already renewed their registration using online renewal this year, which has grown from only 12% in 2007, and 31% in 2012.

Instructions for renewal can be found on our website here. Our website includes instructions for our new fast track renewal process, which only requires the credential holder to have the Fast Track Renewal PIN sent out with their renewal notice.

“It’s important to us that professionals we credential are in compliance with the law, and we’re consistently offering new tools to make that easier,” said Consumer Protection Commissioner Michelle H. Seagull, “Online renewal is just one of the tools we have used to streamline the credentialing process here at DCP, and we hope that contractors who have yet to renew their registration will take advantage of the system.”

Contractors who did not receive a notice with their User ID and/or the Fast Track Renewal PIN may send an email to dcp.online@ct.gov and include the following information:
  • Name
  • Registration type
  • Registration number
  • Email address
  • Indication of which login they are requesting:
    • User ID and Password for full access to your account and renewal
    • Fast Track Renewal PIN for access to renew only
