Residents Urged to Contact DEEP If They Find a GPS Collar from a Bobcat
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is asking state residents to notify DEEP Wildlife Division officials if they find a GPS (global positioning system) neck collar in their yards or while in the outdoors.

CT Fire Crew Departing 5:30 a.m. Friday for Western States to Assist U.S. Forest Service in Fighting Fires
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today announced that a 20-person fire crew will be departing 5:30 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, July 27, 2018 from DEEP Eastern District Headquarters, 209 Hebron Road, Marlborough to assist the U.S. Forest Service in fighting wildfires in western states.

State Reports Expansion of West Nile Virus: Positive Mosquitoes Identified in Eight More Connecticut Towns
The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station (CAES) has identified West Nile virus (WNV) infected mosquitoes in eight new towns: Bethany, Franklin, Greenwich, Madison, New Haven, Waterford, West Haven, and Weston.

DEEP Holds Remembrance Ceremony for EnCon Officer James V. Spignesi Jr.
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) will hold a remembrance ceremony on the 20th anniversary of the passing of Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Officer James V. Spignesi Jr. Officer Spignesi, a 21-year veteran of the DEEP, became the first EnCon Police Officer to die in the line of duty when he was killed while on routine patrol in Scotland, Connecticut on November 20, 1998.
